Rebranded Dunkin’ opens in downtown Wilmington

The rebranded Dunkin’ opened in downtown Wilmington today with an impressive cast of city leaders piling into the storefront.

Mayor Mike Purzycki, City Council Member Michelle Harlee, Downtown Visions Executive Director Martin Hageman joined owners Bhupen and Falguni Patel and other invited guests for the ribbon-cutting.

“We are pleased to welcome the Patel family to our growing Downtown District family, and I am confident that Dunkin’ will be a fine addition to the many new eating and drinking establishments up and down Market Street,” Purzycki said. “Downtown Wilmington continues to grow and thrive, emblematic of the many good things happening all around our City each and every day.”

Dunkin’ is located in a refurbished historic building at 701 North Market. To mark the occasion, the store offered customers a 99-cent medium hot coffee or iced coffee from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with proceeds benefiting The Wilmington Library.

In September, Dunkin’ Donuts announced it would rename itself “Dunkin’” to reflect its increasing emphasis on coffee and other drinks. The latest Wilmington store features the new signage and name Dunkin’, and will be open seven days a week. It will also offer free Wi-Fi.
